Deepika Padukone’s ‘Deewani Mastani’ gets featured on Oscars’ official Instagram page

Deepika Padukone’s fans were thrilled to see her hit song ‘Deewani Mastani’ from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ featured on The Academy’s official Instagram handle. The Academy shared a video of Deepika’s dance performance to the song, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, and captioned it, “Deepika Padukone performing ‘Deewani Mastani’ from the movie ‘Bajirao Mastani.’ Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.”

The video showed Deepika’s graceful dance moves, prompting fans and industry members to flood the comment section with praise. Ranveer Singh, Deepika’s co-star and husband, commented, “Mesmeric!” while Shreya Ghoshal thanked The Academy in her comment.

Fans expressed their admiration for Deepika’s performance, with one user calling her portrayal of Mastani “iconic and mesmerizing.” Another user appreciated The Academy for recognizing the song, describing it as “the most beautifully shot song of all time.”

‘Bajirao Mastani,’ released in 2015, was a blockbuster hit and marked Deepika and Ranveer’s second collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after ‘Ram Leela.’

In other news, Deepika made a special appearance at the Academy Awards last year to mention RRR’s song ‘Naatu Naatu,’ nominated in the ‘Original Song’ category. She also announced and briefed the audience about the song’s performance, which received a standing ovation.

On the work front, Deepika recently starred in the aerial action thriller ‘Fighter’ opposite Hrithik Roshan, which received positive responses. She will next be seen in the sci-fi action thriller ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ alongside Prabhas, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, scheduled to release on May 9, 2024.

Ranveer Singh, on the other hand, will reprise his role as Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama ‘Singham Again,’ alongside Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. He will also headline Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 3,’ set to release in 2025.
