Akira Toriyama, creator of ‘Dragon Ball Z’ passes away at 68

Akira Toriyama, the creator of the renowned Japanese anime series ‘Dragon Ball Z,’ has passed away at the age of 68. His death was attributed to acute subdural hematoma, as confirmed by the makers of ‘Dragon Ball Z’ on their official handle.

In their statement, the makers expressed deep sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened to inform you that Manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma. He was 68 years old.” The note continued, acknowledging Toriyama’s unfinished works and his passion for creation. Despite his passing, they expressed hope that Toriyama’s unique creations would continue to be cherished by fans worldwide.

According to the statement, a private funeral service had already been held for Toriyama, attended by his family and a few close relatives. The family requested privacy during their mourning period and asked that people refrain from sending flowers or gifts. They also requested that interviews with the family be avoided.

‘Dragon Ball Z’ first premiered in Japan in the 1980s and later gained popularity in the United States.
