Warner Bros. has revealed plans for upcoming films within the ‘Lord of the Rings’ franchise, scheduled for release in 2026, promising to “explore storylines yet to be told.”

Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav officially announced the news during the first-quarter earnings conference call, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The first installment of this new series, tentatively titled ‘Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,’ will center on the mysterious character Gollum. Actor Andy Serkis, acclaimed for his portrayal of Gollum in the original trilogy, who will both act in and direct this film. Director Peter Jackson, alongside his longstanding collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, are extensively engaged in the development of the project.
