Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a three-day capacity building programme on ‘leadership development of academic administrators’ on Tuesday, emphasizing the imperative of nurturing creativity in education over a rigid curriculum.

In his keynote address at the conference, Lt. Governor Sinha underscored the need for educational reform, highlighting the importance of fostering creativity among students. He articulated that education should serve as a catalyst for unleashing the creative potential of young minds, rather than being confined to a prescribed curriculum.

Asserting Jammu and Kashmir’s commitment to revitalizing higher education, Lt. Governor Sinha emphasized the territory’s dedication to providing students with world-class curriculum and skills essential for global competitiveness.

Commending the collaborative effort between the University of Jammu and the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in organizing the workshop, Lt. Governor Sinha reiterated the importance of aligning educational initiatives with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, as well as internationalizing higher education standards.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lt. Governor Sinha emphasized Jammu and Kashmir’s pivotal role in spearheading educational reforms at the national level. Encouraging educational institutions to transform their campuses into centers of skill development and innovation, Lt. Governor Sinha urged them to harness the boundless potential of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the importance of intellectual property creation, Lt. Governor Sinha urged universities to focus on fostering creativity, innovation, and programs aimed at catalyzing positive social change. In his address, Lt. Governor Sinha outlined five key aims and vision to lay a robust foundation for future-oriented education. He emphasized the need for classrooms to inspire imagination and advocated for a shift towards mentorship-based teaching approaches.

Calling upon the teaching community, students, and stakeholders to contribute towards establishing Jammu and Kashmir as a knowledge economy, Lt. Governor Sinha reiterated the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ – a developed India. Emphasizing the need for a conducive environment for foreign students in the Union Territory’s educational institutions, Lt. Governor Sinha underscored the importance of fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

The capacity building programme aims to equip academic administrators with the necessary skills and insights to navigate the evolving landscape of education, fostering a culture of innovation, and excellence in higher education institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
