Residents of Centra Greens near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in Ludhiana were rattled on Friday morning when CCTV footage captured a prowling leopard in the vicinity on Thursday night. The video grab highlighted the leopard’s presence in the parking area of the Centra Greens society located on Pakhowal Road in Ludhiana during the nocturnal hours. Promptly responding to the alert, both forest department and police officials swiftly arrived at the scene. Simultaneously, the colony’s management took precautionary measures, issuing a notice advising residents to remain indoors and ensure their pets were kept inside.
Vikram Luthra, the District Forest Officer for wildlife, confirmed the deployment of an official team within the colony following the report. As of now, the leopard remains untraced, prompting proactive measures by the authorities. “While we continue to set up cages and conduct thorough checks, the leopard’s whereabouts remain unknown,” stated Luthra. He urged society residents to exercise caution, advising them to stay indoors unless faced with an emergency until the situation is resolved.
