Various people have been killed due to the leopard attack in the state capital vicinity. After which Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced a compensation of Rs 15 lakh for families of those killed in these attacks.

Talking to the media CM Bommai said, “Compensation will also be provided to the families of those killed in leopard attacks, as was given to the families of those killed in elephant attacks.”

“Earlier it used to be near the forest. Now the forest department has taken serious note of what is happening around Bengaluru. Efforts are being made to hunt it for the past several days and a trap has also been set,” Bommai said.

Meanwhile, the respective department has been instructed to catch the leopard alive and release it into the forest.

“In Bengaluru and Mysuru zone there are also leopards around the elephant corridor. A special team has been formed to prevent leopard attacks and has been told to take a specific action,” CM Bommai said.

Moreover, to control and catch the leopards who have strayed from the forest the team will conduct operations.

Earlier, on Thursday in a leopard attack, a student was killed at Kebehundi village in T Narsipur taluk of Mysuru district. The victim who was attacked by the leopard has been identified as Meghana.

Another dead was also reported from Chamarajanagar near the Mysuru border.

However, in Kumbalagodu, Devanahalli, and surrounding localities of Bengaluru leopards were spotted.

Furthermore, the search operation is underway in both cities. The authorities have urged people to maintain caution.
