The Supreme Court Collegium has reiterated the name of Senior Advocate, Advocate Harpreet Singh Brar for the appointment as a judge of the Punjab And Haryana High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium also recommended the name of him for elevation on 25.07.2022, wherein the court approved the recommendation made by the High Court collegium in March 2022.
However, it has been flagged by the Department the certain issues and returned the proposal in November 2022. The Supreme Court Collegium has also reiterated his name after seeking fresh inputs from the High Court collegium on the issues flagged by the Centre. Therefore, the Supreme Court Collegium also took the views of two more consultee judges who were being appointed recently to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium comprising of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice KM Joseph in the case observed and has stated after examining all the aspects of the matter, the Supreme Court collegium is of the view that Shri Harpreet Singh Brar being fit and is suitable for the appointment as the Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
The Supreme Court Collegium stated while reiterating the proposal that it should be processed at the earliest.
