The Central Government has notified the appointment of Judicial Officer Vivek Bharti Sharma and Advocate Rakesh Thapliyal and Advocate Pankaj Purohit as the Judges of Uttarakhand High Court.
The development was tweeted by the Union Law Minister Mr Kiren Rijiju.
The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud in the month of April observed and has recommended their names for the appointment as the Judges of the High Court of Uttarakhand, along with the Advocate Subhash Upadhyay. The notification issued by the Centre is silent so far as the elevation of Upadhyay’s is concerned.
The Supreme Court Collegoum stated that as per the resolution, Rakesh Thapliyal though having crossed the age of 55 years was still recommended while keeping in view of his credentials, reputation and performance.
Further, it has been noted by the Supreme Court collegium that officer Vivek Bharti Sharma, despite having crossed the age limit of 58½ years, is being recommended for elevation while considering his outstanding assessment as the judicial officer and also as the Registrar General.
