Supreme Court Collegium Recommended Elevation Of Supreme Court Advocate And Judicial Officer As Judge Of Orissa High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the name of the elevation of Advocate, Sibo Sankar Mishra and the Judicial Officer, Ananda Chandra Behera to the Orissa High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium bench comprising of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice SK Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna has recommended the names for the elevation.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the name for the elevation of Advocate Sibo Sankar Mishra, who is currently an Advocate-on-Record for the State of Odisha in the Supreme Court. Thus, he being the counsel for Union of India and Orissa High Court in the Apex Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium resolution stated that he has a sizeable practice at the Bar which is reflected in his average professional income and the inputs from the Government indicate that he has a good personal and the professional image and nothing adverse has come to notice before the court with regards to his integrity.
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the name of the Judicial Officer, Ananda Chandra Behera in the rank of District Judge, has been proposed for elevation to the High Court.
The Supreme Court resolution stated that the inputs which are provided by the Government in the file indicate that he has a good personal and professional image and nothing adverse has come to notice with regards to his integrity.
The Supreme Court Collegium while recommending the name of the Judicial Officer gave due consideration to the fact that he currently being the 14th senior-most Judicial Officer of the State and name of him was recommended which will result in overlooking the candidature of 13 officer’s senior to him.
