The Central Government had notified the appointment of Arunachal Pradesh judicial officer Budi Habung as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court for the period of two years.
The Supreme Court Collegium bench comprising of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice SK Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna had recommended the appointment of Budi Habung as a judge of the Gauhati High Court on August 17, 2023.
The Supreme Court Collegium resolution stated that the inputs which are placed by the Government in the file for indicating that he enjoys a good personal and professional image. Thus, nothing adverse has come to notice with regard to his integrity and the consultee-judges have concurrently given a positive opinion about his suitability for appointment as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court.
On March 31, 2010, Justice Budi Habung joined judicial service and the name of him was recommended for filing up the sole service post allocated to the State of Arunachal Pradesh. Thus, he being the senior-most judicial officer of the Arunachal Pradesh Judicial Service and has served in various capacities in the State.
