The Supreme Court Collegium recommended appointment of Advocate Manjusha Ajay Deshpande, as the judge of Bombay High Court.
The Bombay High Collegium had recommended the appointment of her on 26.09.2022 which was subsequently being concurred by the Chief Ministers and the Governors of Maharashtra and Goa.
The Supreme Court Collegium deferred the decision of it in response to the concerns which are raised by the Government and it has been decided for seeking the report from the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Bombay on 02.05.2023.
The Supreme Court Collegium is also of the considered view that the elevation Advocate Deshpande as a Judge would contribute to better representation of women on the Bench of the Bombay High Court, thus, especially among the women lawyers who are practicing before the Aurangabad Bench.
