Punjab And Haryana High Court: Interim Bail Granted To ‘Times Now’ Reporter Bhawana Kishore In Case Of Rash Driving

The Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case observed wherein the court conducted a special hearing and has granted an interim bail to Times Now reporter Bhawana Kishore who was arrested by Punjab Police for allegedly knocking down a Dalit woman with her car and for verbally abusing her.
The bench comprising of Justice Augustine George Masih in the case observed and has granted an interim bail in the petition moved by Kishore wherein seeking to quash the FIR lodged against her under the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe (the Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
However, the court booked Times Now reporter Bhawana Kishore under section 279 rash driving, section 337 hurting any person by acting rashly or negligently as to endanger human life and section 427 commits mischief and thereby causes loss or damage of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
In the present case, the alleged incident occurred when the victim woman was on her way to attend the inauguration of an Aam Aadmi Clinic, Mohalla clinic in Ludhiana which was being attended by the chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal as well as Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Therefore, she was being arrested by the Punjab Police along with two others, the colleague of her Mrityunjay Kumar and her driver Parminder Singh. Thus, the court sent all the three women to 14-day Judicial custody.
