It has been announced by the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud that the eSCR (Electronic Supreme Court Reports) will now be providing the judgements of Supreme Court in various regional languages of India. The court will launch the said feature will be launched on the occasion of Republic Day. The Supreme Court launched the e-SCR project on 2nd January 2023 as a tribute to the nation in the New Year. Therefore, it being an initiative for providing the digital version of the judgement of the Supreme Court in the manner as they are reported in the official law report – ‘Supreme Court Reports’. The CJI DY Chandrachud, while announcing the launch stated: We are having the eSCR which now has 34000 judgements and an elastic search facility. Now we are also having 1091 judgements in regional languages which will be launched tomorrow on the Republic Day. We are having 21 in Odia, 14 in Marathi, 4 in Assamese, 1 in Garo, 17 in Kannada, 1 in Khasi, 29 in Malayalam, 3 in Nepali, 4 in Punjabi, 52 are already in Tamil, 28 in Telugu, and 3 in Urdu. We are on a mission to provide the judgements of Supreme Court in all scheduled languages and the same has already been started by us. The same will be released on the occasion of Republic Day.
