Mathura District Admin Enforces Firecracker Ban Near Religious Shrines

Ahead of Diwali, the Mathura district administration has imposed a ban on the storage, sale, and bursting of firecrackers within the red and yellow zones surrounding the Krishna Janmasthan temple and the adjacent Shahi Eidgah mosque, according to officials on Sunday.
Both of these revered shrines fall within the red zone, encompassing 13.37 acres, with an additional 20-acre area outside designated as the yellow zone, which includes localities like Govindnagar and Jagannnathpuri. The remainder of the city is designated as the green zone.
The city magistrate’s office has stated that, in order to safeguard the security of the Krishna Janmasthan and Shahi Eidgah, similar to previous years, the establishment of firecracker shops will not be permitted within the red and yellow zones surrounding the temple and the mosque.
This measure has been enacted to ensure the safety of temple visitors during the Diwali festival, as per the officials. The directive will be immediately enforced and will remain in effect beyond the Diwali celebrations.
