GRAND OPENING OF TIHAR HAAT AFTER COVID-19: A PHOTO STORY

Exclusive stores of Tihar Haat and Tihar Emporia which were closed during the nationwide lockdown due to spread of pandemic COVID-19 have now reopened. A wide range of products made by prison inmates like Bakery products, Namkeen, Biscuits, Spices, Housekeeping products, Wooden Crafts, Mustard Oil, Hand-made File Covers, Pant-Shirts, Blankets and Bed-sheets, Facemasks etc. are retailed on these stores. The prisoners who are lodged in Semi-Open Jail are employed at these stores as store-assistant.

Later with improvement in COVID-19 situation, Tihar Emporia was reopened on 17.08.2020 and Tihar Haat resumed its service from 01.02.2021.

Our old and valuable customers demanded now to open these stores on all seven days of week. So, both of these stores will remain opened on all seven days from 11AM to 07PM now onwards.

“One new venture Tihar Art Gallery also will take place very soon near Tihar Haat building. Here, paintings and sculpture made by Tihar Prison inmates will be showcased for exhibition and sale purpose,” said Aadeshwar Kant, Suprintendent of Prison, Central Jail Number 2, Tihar Jail.
