Gauhati High Court: Seeking Status Of Development Works Undertaken Since 2003; Bodoland Territorial Council

The Gauhati High Court in the case Bodo Writer Academy & 94 Ors. v. Union of India & 8 Ors observed and seek information from Bodoland Territorial Council, BTC with regards to the status of major development works undertaken after its constitution on 10.02.2003 and also the recruitments made on the subjects for which it was being given absolute authority.
In the present case, the court was hearing the Public Interest Litigation, PIL moved by Bodo Writer Academy and Others.
The Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Arun Dev Choudhury in the case observed and has stated that as the period of nearly 20 years has passed, the same would be appropriate for the court in order to seek information on the above mentioned issues.
Therefore, it has also been directed by the said court that the petitioners and respondents including Union of India, Assam government, BTC and others in order to file their respective affidavits on the above-mentioned aspects.
Accordingly, the court listed the matter to be next heard on June 22, 2023.
