The Director General of Foreign Trade, DGFT has notified the amendment in the import policy of urea, wherein the DGFT has allowed the import of urea through India Potash Limited (IPL) till March 2024.
However, the notification stated that as per the existing import policy the import of Urea is also being allowed through India Potash Limited, IPL for a period up to 31.03.2023.
Further, as per the revised policy being import of Urea is allowed through IPL for a period up to March 31, 2024.
The import of Urea (for agricultural purposes) into the Government Account shall be allowed either being allowed by designated STEs themselves or through any entity or entities (Fertilizer Marketing Entities) as being authorized by the Department of Fertilizer from time to time, wherein filing of the BEs at Indian ports.
Therefore, the import of Technical Grade Urea, TGU is also being meant for industrial use or NPK Manufacturing shall be “Free.”
