Delhi High Court: Due To Surge In COVID-19 Cases; Makes Wearing Of Face Masks In Court Premises Mandatory For Lawyers, Staff And Litigants

The Delhi High Court due to the rising of COVID-19 cases observed and has made it mandatory for lawyers, staff and the litigants to wear face masks at all times in the premises of court, as the matter of caution due to surge in COVID-19 cases in national capital.
The Registrar General issued a circular, wherein it urged the individuals not to gather in larger numbers at common and also the waiting areas to follow the COVID-19 protocols in letter and spirit and also to avoid the spread of the virus.
Therefore, the circular issued and has stated that the Hon’ble the Chief Justice has been pleased to order that due to surge in the rising cases of Covid-19 in the NCT of Delhi, thus, in order to contain and combat the spread of Covid-19 cases wherein all the concerned i.e. Staff working in this Court and Members of the Bar, which includes the staff and the litigants are hereby directed to make use of face mask at all times in the premises of the said court as the matter of caution, not to gather in large number at common areas, while waiting areas of Court blocks as far as possible and also in order to follow the appropriate Covid protocols in letter and the spirit in order to avoid any further spread of the virus.
Adding to it, the circular issued stated that all the Registrars, OSDs, Co-ordinator, DIAC or Joint Registrars (Judicial), Private Secretaries to Hon’ble the Chief Justice and the Hon’ble Judges are hereby requested in order to ensure that the directions which are issued from time to time to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus are strictly being followed by Officers or officials under their control.
