Court takes cognizance of charge sheet against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in 1984 sikh riots case

Court took cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the case of 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Today, in the case of taking cognizance of the charge sheet, the decision will be given on July 19. The court said that the records brought from the Kadakardooma court are voluminous, so it will take time to read them.

The CBI counsel said more witnesses have to be examined in the case, including the policemen present there during the riots. The names of these witnesses do not appear in the old records. A witness had seen Congress leader Jagdish Tytler inciting the crowd.

The CBI lawyer said that sections 302, 153, 153A, 295 of IPC have been invoked against Tytler. An eye witness Surendra Singh had given his statement but now he has died.

The CBI demanded from the court that there is enough evidence to issue summons against accused Jagdish Tytler and the court should issue summons. On behalf of the victims, advocate Phoolka said that this is a case of genocide, the victims have been waiting for justice for 39 years. We are satisfied with the CBI investigation.

Today the documents were brought from Kadakduma Court to Rouse Avenue Court. During the last hearing, the judge of the Rouse Avenue Court had said, “I do not have the complete charge sheet. I only have the supplementary charge sheet.

So we will need the complete documents before the summons. It is yet to come. Actually this case is related to the murder of three people on November 1, 1984 in Pul Bangash area.

Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, the then MP, has been named as an accused in the charge sheet. The CBI had filed a charge sheet in this case on May 20 in the Rouse Avenue Court.
