Allahabad High Court: Plea Moved Against Exhibition Of ‘Adipurush’; Portrayal Of Ravana, Lord Hanuman Divorced From Indian Civilisation; Dialogues Are Cheap

The Allahabad High Court in the case observed wherein an amendment application has been filed in a pending Public Interest Litigation, PIL against the exhibition of the Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon starrer movie.
The Allahabad High Court stated that the portrayal of characters such as Ravana and Lord Hanuman in the Adipurush movie is completely being divorced from the Indian Civilisation.
In the present case, the amendment plea filed is also objected to the dialogues which are written by Manoj Muntashir Shukla terming them to be ‘ridiculous, ‘filthy’ and ‘against the glory of Ramayan yug’ and further, the same seeks implement of Shukla as a respondent in the pending PIL.
The Public Interest Litigation, PIL was moved by one Social Activists Kuldeep Tiwari and Bandana Kumar through advocate Ranjana Agnihotri and advocate Sudha Sharma in December wherein it is stated that the movie cast aspersion on the characters of the great epic Ramayana and it also tarnished the image of the cultural heritage of Ayodhya and the Hindu religion in general.
Further, the plea moved stated that any variation with the hairstyle, beard, moustache and dressing manner which includes the appearances of the Hindu religious characters as per Ramayana is bound to hurt the sentiments of worshiper’s devotees and of the religious believers.
Therefore, it has also been prayed in the petition moved for a direction to the opposite parties in order to remove the objectionable dialogues, and scenes from the film which depict the religious characters in an ugly manner.
The Delhi High Court in the case observed and has refused to advance the hearing of a petition wherein seeking for the removal of alleged objectionable scenes in the movie Adipursh.
Accordingly, the court listed the matter to be next heard
on June 30, 2023.
