The seven reservoirs supplying drinking water to Mumbai are currently at 98.68% capacity, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The Modak Sagar lake began overflowing on July 27, following the Tulsi lake on July 20, both due to heavy rainfall. These lakes, along with Tulsi, are part of Mumbai’s water supply, which also includes Tansa, Vihar, Bhatsa, Upper Vaitarna, and Middle Vaitarna. The data from the civic body indicates healthy water levels across these reservoirs, ranging from 97.84% to 100% of useful water level. Despite the ongoing rains, the BMC predicts sufficient water supply for the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a ‘green’ alert for moderate rain in Mumbai, with high and low tides expected today.
