India is sending a military transport aircraft to Kuwait on Thursday night to bring back the remains of over 40 Indians who perished in a tragic fire.

Kuwaiti authorities have identified the bodies of 45 Indians and three Filipinos who died in the blaze at a building housing foreign workers. The Gulf Kingdom has pledged to promptly investigate the incident and has assured full support in repatriating the victims’ remains.

The aircraft is expected to arrive in Delhi, as some of the Indians who died are from various northern states, according to sources. Kuwaiti authorities have already performed DNA tests to identify the bodies.

The Kuwaiti Fire Force stated that the deadly fire was caused by an “electrical circuit,” a conclusion reached after examining the scene, as reported by the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Minister of Defence, announced that authorities have identified 48 bodies, including 45 Indians and three Filipinos, as reported by the English-language daily Arab Times.
