In a proactive move to address the rising concerns of cyber threats, Kulgam Police, under the directives of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS, conducted Cyber Crime Awareness Programmes at Police Station DH Pora and Police Station Behibagh.
Chaired by respective jurisdictional officers, these events aimed to enlighten the general public about the various forms of cyber-crimes and ways to stay vigilant against potential threats. The meetings saw the participation of officers and officials from the police department, along with esteemed citizens and youth from Behibagh, DH Pora, and nearby areas.
During the programmes, officers provided valuable insights into different cyber threats, including identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyberstalking, and OTP fraud. Emphasizing the importance of safe browsing habits, participants were advised to exercise caution while accessing the internet and to avoid suspicious websites. The attendees were urged not to share OTPs, bank account details, or passwords with anyone. Officers also guided the participants on adopting precautionary measures for secure Internet banking and online transactions. Additionally, the audience received cautionary advice against accepting friend requests from unknown individuals and engaging in conversations with unverified persons on social media platforms.Expressing their gratitude, participants acknowledged the efforts of the police in organizing Cyber Crime Awareness Programmes.
