The ‘Made in India’ Twitter rival Koo has been officially launched in Nigeria after the Government indefinitely suspended twitter’s services. Aprameya Radhakrishna, CEO and co-founder, Koo officially confirmed that the platform is now available in Nigeria through a post on Koo on Saturday. “Koo is available in Nigeria. We’re thinking of enabling the local languages there too. What say?” Along with this, he also shared the list of countries in which Koo is available. These include Myanmar, Nepal, Namibia, Senegal, Rwanda, Philippines, Peru, and Paraguay. Radhakrishna told PTI: “Now that there is an opportunity for microblogging platforms in Nigeria…Koo is looking at introducing local Nigerian languages in the app.”

Radhakrishna had earlier said that Koo has a global outlook and is already available for use in multiple countries. “Nigeria is similar to India in terms of language diversity. It has hundreds of regional languages. Koo has a global outlook and will enable micro-blogging in countries that need it the most. We have built a scalable platform, and while we are still enhancing the product, it’s already available for use in multiple countries today,” he had said. He added that Koo will abide by the local laws of each country that it operates in.

Koo, founded by Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka, was launched last year to allow users to express themselves and engage on the platform in Indian languages. It supports multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu and Bengali, among others. The Bengaluru-based platform already has over six million users on the platform and is witnessing rapid traction.
