The drama in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has taken a ‘U-turn’ after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s victory over Lucknow Super Giants in a low-scoring match. After the match, tempers soared on the ground, and the brawl between RCB’s Virat Kohli and LSG’s Naveen-ul-Haq hit the headlines.

The matter didn’t end here; later, Gautam Gambhir was also involved in the fray. Then the altercation between Kohli and Gambhir after the match became the talking point, and people started posting their comments on social media. The BCCI took the matter seriously and fined both of them.

Since then, former players and cricket pundits have been sharing comments regarding the on-field furor. Former India opener Virender Sehwag suggested that the winning team has the right to celebrate after victory, while the losing team should accept defeat and walk away.

Sehwag went on to say that “I switched off the TV after the match. I had no idea what happened after the match. When I woke up the next day, I saw plenty of chaos on social media. What happened was really shameful”.

I always claim that the players are models for the country. Their behaviour is being followed by millions of kids across the country, who may think that if my icons can do this, then why wouldn’t we too?

Sehwag further added that a ban from the BCCI could be helpful in preventing such incidents in the future.

The BCCI has imposed hefty fines on Gambhir and Kohli, but no suspension order has been revealed so far.
