Thousands of Khalistan Flag bearer Amritpal’s supporters attacked the Ajnala police station with swords and guns on Thursday after Amritpal Singh, head of the Sikh organization Waris Punjab De, threatened the Ajnala police. Amritpal’s supporters broke the police barricades. During this, Amritpal’s supporters also thrashed some policemen badly. Some vehicles were also broken by the Khalistani miscreants involved in the crowd. As soon as the mob attacked the police nakas, the police personnel posted there took
the back step.
Amritpal had given an ultimatum of one hour to the government. Police officials were holding talks with Amritpal’s supporters but reached no agreement. Amritpal and his supporters were adamant on only one thing: that the FIR lodged against Lovepreet Toofan Singh- close aide of Amritpal, should be quashed and the two men caught by him should be released
immediately.
Amritpal Singh said that the FIR was lodged only with a political motive. “If they don’t cancel the case in one hour then the administration will be responsible for whatever happens next. They think we cannot do anything. That’s why this show of strength was necessary,” he said.
Some supporters of Amritpal Singh reached outside Ajnala police station in the morning where the police force already deployed took them into custody. Later, when the SSP of Amritsar Dehat reached the spot, the detained youths were released.
An atmosphere of tension prevailed in Ajnala and its surrounding areas. Amritpal Singh had warned that if the FIR filed against Toofan singh and his associates was not canceled by Wednesday evening, he along with his supporters would reach to lay siege to Ajnala police station.
As the day settled, a statement from Amritsar SSP surfaced stating, “As per the evidence presented before us, Lovepreet Toofan will be discharged. SIT has been constituted to
investigate the case”
