CHANDIGARH: In a significant development in the state’s fight against organized crime, Jalandhar Police apprehended a key operative affiliated with the notorious Vicky Gounder gang on Sunday. This arrest is part of the ongoing crackdown aimed at curbing criminal activities in Punjab.
Speaking to X, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav highlighted the nefarious activities attributed to the gang, which include arms and drugs trafficking, attempts at murder, and extortion. The apprehension of the Vicky Gounder gang member marks a crucial step in dismantling their criminal network.
“DGP Yadav emphasized, ‘One operative of Vicky Gounder Group held with 3 Weapons… FIR registered and Investigations on-going to establish backward & forward linkages,’” the statement read.
The arrest underscores law enforcement’s relentless efforts to root out organized crime and maintain public safety in the region. Further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities and apprehend other members involved in criminal enterprises.
