In a recent rally, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal warned Delhi voters about potential long power cuts and high electricity costs if they elect the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Addressing the public in Vikaspuri, Kejriwal highlighted the uninterrupted, free electricity that AAP has maintained in Delhi, contrasting it with the frequent power outages in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, where residents face long daily blackouts and high electricity costs. Kejriwal has focused his campaign on sustaining these free utilities, claiming that BJP’s policies could dismantle these benefits if they come to power.
Kejriwal has also amplified these warnings through campaign events like the recent “Padyatra” in Moti Nagar. Here, he emphasised the distinct difference in governance, asserting that AAP’s accomplishments in free electricity, healthcare, and water accessibility are unmatched in the past 75 years. He urged Delhiites to vote for AAP to avoid facing increased utility costs similar to those in neighboring states under BJP’s administration.
Additionally, Kejriwal announced AAP’s intention to contest all 70 seats, underscoring that he would represent Delhi residents regardless of individual MLAs elected. He committed to fighting for every booth, stating that this election would be historic in terms of voter engagement. In an address at Pitampura, he encouraged supporters to view the elections as critical to maintaining AAP’s progressive policies and protecting Delhi’s unique model of governance from BJP intervention.
