The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was attacked during a “padyatra” in Vikaspuri, New Delhi, accusing the BJP of orchestrating the incident. According to AAP, Kejriwal has been a frequent target due to his party’s anti-corruption policies and popular initiatives like free electricity and healthcare in Delhi. AAP leader Atishi, who became Chief Minister after Kejriwal’s recent stint in jail, condemned the attack, accusing BJP of repeatedly trying to undermine Kejriwal, including attempts to tarnish his image through alleged legal harassment and denial of medical needs while he was imprisoned.

Atishi stated, “The people of Delhi have seen how low the BJP’s dirty politics can stoop to,” referring to past incidents where AAP claims BJP allegedly filed false cases against Kejriwal, aiming to prevent his political rise. She added that the BJP’s frustration stemmed from their inability to challenge AAP’s popularity and the recent gains made by AAP in Delhi and Punjab.

The BJP, however, dismissed these allegations, with Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva suggesting that AAP was exaggerating ordinary public concerns as attacks. “If public is asking Arvind Kejriwal questions, then what problem does he have?” Sachdeva remarked, noting that residents were primarily concerned with issues like water pollution.
