The BJP hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for digging his heels in and not resigning as the head of the elected government even after his arrest. The party also accused Kejriwal of adopting double standards as in the case of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendar Jain he had taken their resignation immediately after their arrests in different cases.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the public of Delhi deserves an honest government and not one whose CM is in jail on corruption charges and wants to run his government from behind bars.

Bhatia, while targeting the INDI alliance, said that on one hand, dishonest and corrupt people have come together and, on the other, there is an honest Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said first Kejriwal ignored 9 summons of the ED and later moved the Delhi High Court to seek a stay on his arrest, where he was held to be a prima facie accused in the liquor scam and was denied relief.

Kejriwal filed a petition in the Enforcement Directorate court and then again in the Delhi High Court and at both the places his petition was rejected and Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody till April 15. Sisodia, who has been in jail for 14 months, has also not got any relief from anywhere including the Enforcement Directorate, High Court and Supreme Court.

Bhatia said that the morality of AAP has completely ended. It is a matter of great concern that Kejriwal is talking about running the government from inside the jail, because there is no leader in the party who can serve the people of Delhi. Earlier Kejriwal used to say that his fight is against corruption but today he himself has become corrupt. Kejriwal, who has been campaigning against nepotism, has failed to find anyone other than his wife to succeed him in the Chief Minister’s Office.

Bhatia said that Modi has resolved to eliminate corruption. The opposition continuously claims that the investigating agencies are being misused by the government, but the public will give its verdict in the upcoming elections, he said.

A few days ago, all the leaders involved in corruption, dynastic and communal politics had gathered. Corruption cases are registered against the leaders of all the parties who participated in this rally , Bhatia said.

“Opposition leaders first indulge in corruption and when caught, they curse the investigating agencies and democracy. The court says that corruption is getting reduced but the opposition parties never talk about the facts, they try to mislead the public by raising unimportant issues,” he said.
