Labour Party leader Keir Starmer was officially appointed the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom by King Charles in a swift ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Friday. Starmer defeated Conservative leader Rishi Sunak with the Labour Party securing 411 seats, as compared to 119 secured by the Tories.

During her 70-year reign, Queen Elizabeth II was served by 15 prime ministers. Her son, King Charles, who has been on the throne for around two years, welcomed his third prime minister at the Palace.
