The frigid winter chill has tightened its grip across Kashmir as Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, registered the coldest night of the season with the mercury plunging to minus 5.6 degrees Celsius.
Sub-zero temperatures were recorded across all stations, further intensifying the winter freeze. Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, witnessed a low of minus 5.0 degrees Celsius, adding to the bone-chilling weather.
Gulmarg, renowned for its ski-resort, experienced a temperature of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.5 degrees Celsius.
In Kupwara, the mercury settled at minus 5.3 degrees Celsius, contributing to the overall cold wave, and in Kokernag, a minimum temperature of minus 2.7 degrees Celsius was recorded, indicating the widespread impact of the chilling weather conditions.
As Kashmir continues to shiver under the winter’s icy embrace, residents are bracing themselves for further drops in temperature, emphasizing the need for precautions and winter preparedness measures.
