While Srinagar city recorded below the freezing point temperature, the weatherman in Srinagar has predicted another spell of snow and rains starting Monday. However, there is no forecast for any widespread heavy snowfall in Kashmir Valley.
According to the meteorological department, “Snowfall over the higher reaches of North West Jammu and Kashmir, Sonmarg and Zojila area are likely from 23th of the morning. This wet spell will remain till 25th of November.”
MET in Srinagar said on Sunday that in the previous night Srinagar witnessed minus 3 degree Celsius while sub-zero temperatures have been recorded across Kashmir Valley.
Giving details, a MET official in Srinagar said that the coldest place continues to be Gulmarg which witnessed minus 7.4 degree Celsius. While as a health resort of Pahalgam in South Kashmir it was freezing at minus 5.6 degree Celsius.
Due to the cold wave and several spells of snow and rains, main highways in both UT’s of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir remained closed or traffic remained disrupted.
With fresh predictions from Monday about snow and rains, vehicular traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and Srinagar-Leh is likely to remain disrupted.
