The Hubballi Police in Karnataka stated they have detained seven suspects, including the primary suspect, the victim’s father, who “confessed” to having “hired” six people to kill his own son.

Police Commissioner Hubballi, Labhu Ram, said, “Akhil, a jeweller, was murdered on December 1. His uncle filed the missing person’s case on December 3, which was misleading. Smelling foul and upon interrogating the family members, the father of the victim confessed to having hired six persons to get his son killed.” Labhu Ram added that the murder was “motivated by personal issues” but did not divulge more details.
“The role of each accused has to be ascertained.” “The main accused, Akhil’s father, Bharath Mahajanshet, handed over the victim to the “Supari killers” at the murder location and returned home alone,” a police commissioner said at a press conference.

“The dead body of Akhil was buried by the accused at a sugarcane field in Devikoppa near Kalaghatgi on the day of his murder,” the Police Commissioner said.

Following all the protocols, the body of 26-year-old Akhil was exhumed on Wednesday in the presence of Assistant Commissioner of Revenue Ashok Teli.

The postmortem was carried out at the scene by a team of specialists from the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Forensic Science Wing, while the specialists from the Regional Forensic Lab in Hubli obtained crucial data regarding the murder case, according to police.

After the autopsy, the police gave the dead body to the family members.

The other six suspects have been identified by the police as Hubli residents Mahadev Nalwad, Saleem Salauddin Moulvi, Rehman Vijapur, Prabhayya Hiremath, and Mohammed Hanif.

Following the primary suspect’s admission that he had carried out the murderous plot, three additional suspects were detained; the three others were detained on Thursday morning near Gabbur in Hubbli, according to the police.
