Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on Tuesday that his government has taken swift and decisive action regarding the Nagamangala incident. He also accused the BJP of politicizing the matter.
Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi, Shivakumar stated, “Our government has taken prompt and firm action in response to the recent riots during Ganesha processions. The necessary steps have been taken, and the police will continue to handle the situation appropriately. The BJP can continue with their political games as usual.”
The riot occurred on September 11 in Nagamangala, Mandya district, following allegations of stone-pelting during a Ganpati immersion procession. State Home Minister Parameshwara mentioned that the government would review the BJP’s fact-finding committee report if it contains new information.
On Monday, a BJP fact-finding committee, led by CN Ashwath Narayan, visited the site of the violence along with other BJP leaders and officials. Narayan did not hold back in criticizing the Congress government, blaming it for failing to maintain law and order.
He stated, “The Congress government has failed to maintain law and order. They are constantly involved in appeasement politics. Their approach is unclear and divisive, aiming to split society along communal lines for vote bank politics. These incidents keep recurring.”

BJP leader Narayana Gowda, also a member of the fact-finding committee, added, “This government has failed. Whether this is an intelligence failure or a deliberate act is uncertain, but we suspect Congress’s involvement. There are indications that petrol bombs are being prepared and coordinated with Congress workers. The Home Minister and police officials are managing the situation, but this seems to be revenge for Congress’s loss in the last MP elections.”
