In a high-profile case related to drug trafficking, the Kapurthala district court has issued a summons to senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia’s wife and legislator, Ganieve Kaur Majithia. Additionally, three police officers have also been summoned by the court. With this, there is a stir caused inside political corridors condemning this move of the AAP Government doing Vendetta Politics.
On summoning Ganieve Kaur Majithia, BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar tweeted and said, “Mr Bhagwant Mann, Never forget the heritage of Punjab- Daughters are the shared pride of all. Implicating a family member of your political adversary on flimsy grounds to settle a personal feud is highly deplorable. Punjabis abhor such abominable politics.”
It is noteworthy that prior to the 2022 legislative assembly elections, Punjab Police’s Special Task Force (STF) had uncovered a high-profile drug racket in Kapurthala, leading to the arrest of Ranjit Singh alias Jeeta Maure, a prominent kabaddi player in the state.Ranjit Singh was arrested in connection with this case, and during the investigation, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vimal Kant and Station House Officer (SHO) Manish, both serving in Jalandhar at the time, were also arrested. The STF team apprehended Jeeta Maure from Karnal. Some weapons and 100 grams of narcotics were recovered from his possession. A total of 12 cases have been filed against 12 individuals in this matter.
