At least seven people were killed and 40 others injured on Sunday when a car lost control, crossed the median, and crashed into a bus on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, with both vehicles plunging about 20 feet into a ravine near Usrahar in Etawah. Upon receiving reports of the collision, police teams quickly arrived at the scene. They formed a human chain to assist in rescuing the injured and transported them to nearby hospitals.

The bus, registered in Nagaland, was en route to Delhi from Rae Bareli with 60 passengers onboard, while the car, registered in Kanauj, was traveling from Lucknow to Agra.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Etawah, Sanjay Verma, stated that the car had veered into the opposite lane, resulting in the collision.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the crash, and administrative officials are managing medical treatment and support for the injured, according to the SSP.
