Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor Prabhas have struck gold with their new film “Kalki 2898 AD,” which enjoyed a phenomenal opening. According to the filmmakers, the post-apocalyptic movie amassed an impressive Rs 191.5 crore gross worldwide across all languages on its first day. Directed by Nag Ashwin, “Kalki 2898 AD” draws inspiration from Hindu scriptures and is set in the year 2898 AD. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani.

Ahead of its release on June 27, the makers hosted a grand event in Mumbai. Kamal Haasan attended this pre-release event and shared insights about his character and his reaction when director Nag Ashwin pitched the project to him. Haasan described Ashwin as a man of few words but brimming with great ideas and an excellent sense of presentation. He remarked, “I don’t underestimate these ordinary-looking guys. They have a depth that becomes apparent only when you talk to them. Great ideas translate better when presented correctly, and Nagi knows how to do it.”

Haasan revealed his excitement about initially thinking he would play the villain, noting, “I always wanted to play a bad man because the bad man gets to do all the good things and have fun. While the heroes sing romantic songs and wait for the heroine, the bad guy does what he wants. I thought I was going to play the bad man, so it was going to be fun. But then, Ashwin wanted it to be different. I’m almost like a sage in the film with a bad idea.”

The film also features cameos from actors Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur, adding to its star-studded cast.
