Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, has made box office history as the third highest opener in Indian cinema, amassing over Rs 180 crore on its debut day.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film grossed approximately Rs 115 crore worldwide, with a net collection of around Rs 95 crore in India across all languages. This stellar performance surpasses the global opening records set by films like KGF 2 (Rs 159 crore), Salaar (Rs 158 crore), Leo (Rs 142.75 crore), Sahoo (Rs 130 crore), and Jawan (Rs 129 crore). RRR holds the top spot with Rs 223 crore, followed by Baahubali 2 with over Rs 217 crore on its first day.
The review highlighted, “Kalki is primarily an Amitabh-centric film. While his presence is limited in the first half, his intensity escalates in the latter part. Prabhas’ roles as Bhairava and Bujji bring humor, and despite a subdued start, his dynamic action scenes in the second half leave a lasting impact. The face-off between Prabhas and Amitabh is a standout moment.”
A fusion of Hindu mythology and science fiction, Kalki 2898 AD portrays a contemporary incarnation of Lord Vishnu, descending to Earth to combat malevolent forces and safeguard humanity.
