A photograph capturing the aftermath of a heavy rainstorm in Delhi has recently gone viral, drawing attention not just for the impressive extent of the flooding but also for the striking scene of journalists maintaining their usual activities amidst the chaos.

The image, taken on Wednesday, shows the Press Club in Delhi submerged in ankle-deep water following torrential rains. The floodwaters have turned the club’s floor into a small lake, but it is the response of the club’s members that has captured widespread interest.

At the heart of the photograph is a table adorned with open bottles of alcohol and an assortment of snacks, typical fare for a social gathering. Despite the flooded surroundings, a group of men seated around the table appear completely at ease. Some are engrossed in their phones, others are exchanging greetings, and one man has even placed his legs up on a chair to keep them dry. The scene reflects a surprising normalcy amid the waterlogged environment.

In addition to the table’s occupants, the photograph shows other Press Club members wading through the room with their trousers rolled up, navigating the flood with a practical and composed attitude. Their willingness to carry on with their routine activities, despite the uncomfortable conditions, underscores a remarkable sense of resilience and adaptability.

Internet Reacts

After the post on X (formerly twitter) gained a lot of interactions, people started praising journalists for their hard work. Some gave it a humorous twist “A pool of journos, literally!” an individual commented. Another one commented “what a picture! Ye dilli hai mere yaar! Is desh ki rajdhani” another one added “Press journalists in Delhi are enjoying drinking and eating in this underwater food area which is a rare sight in India.”

“No need for water for their pegs .. just fetch some ice,” another joked.
