"JMM's Entire System is Fake": Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Jharkhand CM's Age Controversy

Amid ongoing controversy surrounding the age of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Assam Chief Minister and BJP co-in-charge for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Himanta Biswa Sarma, criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party, calling its entire system “fake.”

Sarma stated, “The entire system of JMM is fake. If you examine their affidavit details, you will see that even their age has been inflated. This is a government of infiltrators. If they regain power, no one will be safe. It is the responsibility of the people of Jharkhand to oust them.”

He also addressed derogatory remarks made by Congress leader Irfan Ansari about BJP leader Sita Soren, highlighting the lack of action taken against Ansari by the Jharkhand government. “No action is being taken against Irfan Ansari for his insulting comments about the tribal community,” he remarked.

Ansari had caused a stir by labeling Sita Soren a “rejected” and “borrowed” player. In a separate statement, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla claimed that “JMM stands for ‘Jhol, Muslim appeasement and Mafia’,” accusing the JMM government of corruption even in affidavits. He pointed out that Hemant Soren’s age reportedly increased from 42 in 2019 to 49 this year.

In response, JMM Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji asserted that the BJP was attempting to divert attention from key issues, claiming that the JMM would emerge victorious in the elections. “BJP raises all kinds of issues. They do not want to fight the election based on development. They try to stab you in the back, but they will not succeed. We will win and form the government here,” Maji declared.

Elections for the 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
