Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed strong support for the Union Budget 2024-25, emphasizing its significant focus on agricultural productivity and resilience, which he believes will immensely benefit the Union Territory.
In a series of posts on the social media platform X, Sinha praised the budget for its inclusive vision aimed at empowering all segments of the population. He highlighted that the budget’s emphasis on natural farming, oilseeds, vegetable production, and supply chains, coupled with national cooperation, will foster inclusive growth for farmers, villages, and laborers across J&K.
“Jammu and Kashmir has embraced the opportunities presented by the 21st century, and our youth are diligently working towards building a proud and prosperous Union Territory,” Sinha stated. He pointed out that the budget’s focus on employment and skilling, alongside the introduction of new schemes, will inject fresh momentum into youth empowerment and significantly enhance women’s participation in the workforce.
The Lieutenant Governor underscored that the budget offers extensive opportunities for youth, women, farmers, and entrepreneurs. He noted that it lays out comprehensive plans for the development of a robust agricultural infrastructure and urban development, which are crucial for a prosperous rural India.
“This budget, with its focus on employment, skilling, MSMEs, and the middle class, aims to bring the vision of empowering all sections of the population to fruition. The nine priorities outlined for generating ample opportunities will ensure rapid progress and social equity,” Sinha elaborated.
Further, Sinha commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting what he described as a “visionary” budget. He asserted that the budget would intensify economic growth, introduce far-reaching reforms towards achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India), and enhance both the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and ‘Ease of Living’.
In addition, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the significance of the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan, which aims for comprehensive coverage in tribal-majority villages and aspirational districts. He called this initiative a “game-changer” for the Union Territory.
Sinha’s positive outlook on the budget underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging the budget’s provisions to spur development and inclusivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The focus on agricultural productivity, youth empowerment, and women’s participation signifies a holistic approach to fostering sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
