The Jammu and Kashmir Government has granted permission for a Muharram procession on the 8th of Muharram, 1445 AH, from Guru Bazar to Dalgate via Budshah Kadal and M.A Road. This decision followed a request from the Yadgar-i-Hussaini committee and subsequent approval from the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar.

“The procession will be conducted under strict conditions to ensure public safety and order. Participants are required to use only the left side of the road, keeping the right side open for emergency services. The organizers must ensure the procession concludes within the timeframe set by the administration, starting at 0600 hours from Guru Bazar, crossing Jehangir Chowk by 0630 hours, and passing J&K Bank Headquarters, M.A. Road by 0800 hours,” the District Magistrate, Srinagar, stated in the order.

The order outlined several key conditions for the procession, including the prohibition of anti-national or anti-administration speeches or activities, preservation of communal and sectarian harmony, and respect for state security and national symbols. No flags with provocative slogans or images related to banned organizations will be allowed. Participants must adhere to rules and avoid actions that could lead to law and order issues, ensuring the protection of government and public property. Cooperation with local police and security agencies is mandatory, and the procession must ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and accommodation for medical emergencies. Additionally, the use of drones and public address systems or loudspeakers is prohibited.

The District Magistrate emphasized that these measures are essential to ensure the procession’s smooth conduct while maintaining public safety and order.
