Covid designated hospitals are so far catering to the growing number of patients being admitted in serious conditions while most of the Covid positive patients prefer to stay at home rather than going to the hospitals. In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir reported 812 cases of coronavirus out of which 257 were travellers, as per the officials.

Many of them were tourists but the government has not kept any quarantine facility for them instead they are being guided by the health workers only on the telephone about the medicine and precautions. The hoteliers are told to take them to the hospital in case they develop some complications.

Kashmir is witnessing a surge in the Covid positive cases. Many tourists have tested positive and a few of them have even died in the Covid designated hospitals of Srinagar.

With the death toll going up, hoteliers had a meeting with the higher-ups of the Jammu and Kashmir administration and they were instructed to keep few rooms vacant for the Covid positive tourists and isolate them within the hotel.

The people who are connected with the travel trade have expressed surprise over the latest instructions of the administration for the hoteliers to take care of Covid positive patients. “The government must create a quarantine facility for the travellers and tourists as it is very difficult for any hotelier to save the other tourists from the infection since they are being told by the administration to keep the Covid positive patient in isolation in the same hotel,” said Sheikh Nisar who is running a travel agency.

A senior official of the health department told the media that it is very difficult for them to create a quarantine facility for the travellers and tourists and said that daily dozens of travellers are testing positive and they cannot cope up with such numbers in a quarantine facility.
