A Jharkhandi man was detained by Delhi Police after they discovered 1.890 kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 1 crore in his possession.

Anil Kumar, a man who used to work at a jewellery store in Delhi, decamped with gold jewellery last Friday.

Police were called to the scene of a jewellery theft report on November 11 at a store in Chandni Chowk. Manoj Jaiswal, the shop owner, reported the theft of gold jewellery weighing 2.5 kg to the police and raised suspicions about the employee.

According to Manoj, Anil was ordered to give the jewellery kept in plastic boxes to another individual, but he refused and went missing.

When the police looked into the situation, they discovered that Anil had left Delhi with jewellery for Bihar.

When police arrived in Bihar on November 13, they discovered that Anil was hiding in the Chatra area of Jharkhand. After that, Chhotu Rajak, the brother-in-law of Anil, was the target of a raid, and he was captured.

From the house, the police seized 1.890 kg of gold jewellery, including earrings and necklaces.

Rajak revealed during questioning that Anil and his friend Deepak Kumar had visited his residence a few days prior and given him the jewellery to keep in a safe place. Then, in order to avoid capture, they fled the area.
