Amidst the prevailing heatwave condition, Jharkhand has announced the suspension of classes in schools up to class 8th, in both government and private schools on Tuesday.
As per the official notification issued by the secretary of the school education and literacy department Uma Shankar Singh, the suspension will be in affect till further notice.
This decision will apply on all the categories of school. Which includes government, private, aided and unaided. Through this announcement, it aims to protect students from the adverse effects of extreme weather conditions.
As per the order issued by Uma Shankar Singh, this order will be effective from April 30th. However, this order doesn’t cover teachers and non-teaching staff of government, non-government aided, and unaided schools. Thus, making it compulsory for them to come to school.
Additionally, the notification also stated that a separate order for summer vacation will be issued for teaching and non-teaching staff. Also, there is no suspension of classes for class 9th students or the above.
But however, the school has changed the timings. Now, it will operate from 7 am to 11:30 am excluding prayer, meetings, sports, etc.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, around 13 districts of Jharkhand are experiencing heatwave on April 30th an May 1.
The weather department has further predicted the rise in temperatures on coming days in eastern India. And also said that temperature can reach 44-degrees celsius the eastern side of the country in coming days.
