The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced a major overhaul for the JEE Main 2025 exam, scrapping the option to select questions in Section B, a feature introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to ease students’ burden. Starting from 2025, all candidates must answer all five questions in Section B for each subject.

This new change, effective from the next exam cycle, puts an end to the flexibility that allowed students to skip five questions in Section B, an option widely appreciated by aspirants during the pandemic.

The NTA justified the move, stating, “With the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring the end of COVID-19 as a global health emergency, we are returning to the original exam format.”

What’s New in JEE Main 2025?

1. Mandatory Section B: From 2025 onwards, candidates will have no choice but to answer all five numerical questions in Section B for Papers 1 (B.E./B.Tech), 2A (B.Arch), and 2B (B.Planning).

2. Why the Change? This option was originally introduced to reduce exam stress during the pandemic. However, with life returning to normal, the NTA has reverted to its previous structure.

3. Application Process: The NTA has also confirmed that the application process for JEE Main 2025’s first phase will begin soon. Keep an eye on their official website for updates.

This announcement signals a shift back to a more rigorous format, and students preparing for JEE Main 2025 should be aware of these changes as they gear up for the exam.
