Janata Dal-United’s Ram Nath Thakur, a two-time Rajya Sabha MP and the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, is set to take oath as a Union Minister in Narendra Modi’s third NDA government.

He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the opportunity to serve as a minister.

Thakur said, “On behalf of my family, my party, I express my gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar… I express my gratitude to them for including a small person like me in the Union Cabinet. He (PM Modi in the meeting) said that we will work on the path of development with dedication towards the people of the country.”

Thakur served as the Bihar minister between 2005 and 2010 under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. His journey into active electoral politics began following the death of his mother, Karpoori Thakur, in 1988, marking a significant turning point in his political career.

Narendra Modi is set to take the oath of office at 7:15 pm, accompanied by his council of ministers, in a grand and ceremonious event held at the prestigious Rashtrapati Bhavan.

On June 5, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader, showcasing their collective support and confidence in his leadership.

With numerous former ministers having lost in the recent Lok Sabha polls and no immediate vacancies available in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP is likely to seize this opportunity to introduce fresh faces into the NDA government’s Cabinet, thereby rejuvenating its leadership and ensuring a dynamic representation within its ranks.
