Following his arrest in connection with the kidnapping case linked to the ‘Obscene Video’ matter, Janta Dal (Secular) leader HD Revanna has been placed under State Investigation Team (SIT) police custody until May 8, as ruled by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arvind B. Kattimani.
The hearing took place at the judge’s residence in the NGV area of Koramangala today under heavy security measures.
Addressing the issue, HD Revanna, arrested by the State Investigation Team (SIT), claimed it to be a political conspiracy against him, stating that such an ordeal is unprecedented in his four-decade-long political career. He underwent a medical examination at the Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital post his arrest.
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Revanna maintained his innocence, declaring the accusations to be part of a scheme to discredit him. He pointed out a prior complaint lodged against him on April 28, which yielded no evidence, yet led to his arrest under the pretext of a kidnapping case.
HD Revanna, along with his son Prajwal Revanna, a sitting MP and candidate for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, faces investigation by a Special Investigative Team (SIT) formed by the Karnataka government following allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation by a female household staff member.
Their plea for interim bail in connection to the alleged “obscene videos” case was previously rejected by a special court in Bengaluru dedicated to cases involving public representatives.
The FIR, filed by the KR Nagar police, names HD Revanna as accused number one and another individual identified as Babanna as accused number two, with charges under Sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 365 (kidnapping with intent to cause harm), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC filed against them.
