Ukrainian President Zelenskyy holds talks with Brazilian counterpart Lula

On the fringes of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Wednesday (local time). The two leaders held discussions on the value of establishing peace and preserving communication between their two countries.

It was their first time meeting face-to-face, according to CNN. Zelenskyy described their conversation as “honest and productive.” He stated that the next steps in their bilateral relations are being worked on by their diplomatic teams. Zelenskyy wrote, “Important meeting with @LulaOficial,” in a post on X. We told our diplomatic teams to start planning the next steps in our bilateral relations and peace efforts after our open and constructive discussion. The Brazilian delegate will keep attending the Peace Formula meetings.

Taking to X, Lula posted, “Today I met in New York with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. We had a good conversation about the importance of paths to building peace and always maintaining open dialogue between our countries.”
